Pickett County is the birthplace of one of the United States most loved and distinguished
statesmen. The Cordell Hull Birthplace and Museum are both a legacy from and a memorial to this outstanding American. Hull was Secretary of State of the United States in the administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Cordell Hull played a major roll in the establishment of the United Nations and is known as the "Father of the United Nations." He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1945.
